Friday Five: Gratitude
Aug. 16th, 2024 08:54 am1) Who are you appreciating in your life right now?
That my dad is staying with us. I haven't gotten to spend much time with him, like. ever. so it's been nice. My parents got divorced when I was four and the longest stretch of time I've spent with my dad between then and now was under 2 weeks. Now he's been living here two months. I'm very worried about his health but nonetheless, whatever happens and whenever it happens, we had this time.
2) What's something you've done this year that other people appreciated?
tbh probably the same as previous, I know he appreciates being able to stay with us and getting help while he rides the rollercoaster that is (hopefully) recovering from almost dying in May.
3) What's a good way to show gratitude?
imo it depends what one is feeling gracious about? Like, if it's an object/physical item gift, I like to show evidence that I'm using it, with pictures or anecdotes, and I always like to know that others have found things useful that I've given them. If it's less tangible, like a fic or art, it's again just nice to know that the person has seen it/engaged with it, so comments or kudos or likes. For acts of service, it gets harder, but...yeah, idk. Just respecting and appreciating the effort has someone has put in, feeding them, paying it forward to someone else in need, helping the person who helped you when they need it...
4) Do you write thank you notes?
uh.......not so much.... I always MEAN to, but....
5) What can you use help with these days?
I end up requesting a lot of help with my business (the Press this account is named for!), especially for going through physical merchandise, packing up Kickstarter backer rewards, and vending at in-person events. It's hard to even put into words how much I appreciate the local folks who help me with that stuff.
