To celebrate National Haiku Day (today, April 17, 2023!) we invited Press contributors to write haiku! Ultimately, three people wrote 10 poems!

Happy National Haiku Day, Everyone. We’d love to read your haiku, too – drop one in the comments, if you’re so inclined!

Hi Nina! I just woke up and I am easily excitable, if you can't tell. :P
Date: 2023-04-19 04:16 pm (UTC)The danmei genre has really taken off in the USA and I, for one, am here for it. *waves pompoms*
(I usually go on a Spring poetry spree at some point. I can drop a link, if you are interested, when I do?)
Re: Hi Nina! I just woke up and I am easily excitable, if you can't tell. :P
Date: 2023-04-20 01:31 pm (UTC)And yesssss, I got into danmei just before the big explosion, and it's been wonderful to see it catching on. I've read almost everything out officially in English (and everything I read, I had read it all before it was published in English) so I'm mostly neck-deep in fantranslations but I'm trying to buy all the official ones to support the authors.
AND ABSOLUTELY YES DO LINK.

3. Yeeeeeeeeeees! I love the stories where the fantranslators become the official translators so buying the translations supports them and the original author and then "the circle of life" from the lion king starts playing in my head and I have the urge to hold the book over my head ...

Date: 2023-04-21 01:46 pm (UTC)and YES THAT, I've been so excited to see people who did fantranslations I loved get hired. It's such an interesting time to be in these fandoms. :D
Re: Hi Nina! I just woke up and I am easily excitable, if you can't tell. :P
Date: 2023-04-21 06:06 pm (UTC)YES! The way fandom is evolving ... it's insane. There's all this terrible stuff going on in the world at large, but here in the niche spaces, there's some really terrific developments and I love to see it. It gives me hope.
Re: Hi Nina! I just woke up and I am easily excitable, if you can't tell. :P
Date: 2023-04-22 01:41 pm (UTC)I. Definitely have become a fan, lmao.
And yeah that's it exactly. Fandom has become an ever-more welcoming space as the rest of the world burns. At least we have a cozy spot to hide in.

Date: 2023-04-22 10:30 pm (UTC)It only illustrates how much we need stories and fandom spaces, I think. Otherwise we'd all go bugnuts.
