I am reading Global University Entrance Exam by Mu Su Li and it took them SEVEN HUNDRED PAGES TO KISS and I have OPINIONS about that OKAY? lmaoooo

Seriously. It's not the slowest I've ever read but it's up there. The book is about 1,400 pages long, so. It took them halfway through.

Thanks! I love poetry and haiku .... I would have kept going but I didn't want to flood the page, lol. As for the 'libidinousness' one, I may be reading too much bl manga lately. :P

RELATABLE. All I've been doing recently is playing Slime Rancher and reading danmei and that was definitely reflected in the haiku I wrote for this post (I'm Nina Waters).

Slime Rancher! That's such a fun, cozy game. I watched the vtuber, Josuiji Shinri, play it and was just utterly charmed. Had to get it for myself. It is probably the most relaxing game I have come across since Tetris, if that makes sense. Good choice!

The danmei genre has really taken off in the USA and I, for one, am here for it. *waves pompoms*

ah relatable, I also primarily know Slime Rancher through a vtuber - my kids love the streamer Zebragamer, and he played a little of the first game and a LOT of the second. It really is fun, it's a style of game I really love. Like, I've always loved low-stakes games where the goal is to make money. (ask me how many hours of Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon I've played. Actually don't ask me. The answer is embarrassingly astronomical lmao).

And yesssss, I got into danmei just before the big explosion, and it's been wonderful to see it catching on. I've read almost everything out officially in English (and everything I read, I had read it all before it was published in English) so I'm mostly neck-deep in fantranslations but I'm trying to buy all the official ones to support the authors.

2. Yes, I feel that. I love cozy comfy games. I tend towards Pokemon, myself.

3. Yeeeeeeeeeees! I love the stories where the fantranslators become the official translators so buying the translations supports them and the original author and then "the circle of life" from the lion king starts playing in my head and I have the urge to hold the book over my head ...

Zebragamer. :D I never enjoyed vtube game streamers but my kids got into Zebra's streams and I'll own watching people play games has really grown on me. We also watch TSMC (a Minecraft streamer) and Animators vs. Games.

and YES THAT, I've been so excited to see people who did fantranslations I loved get hired. It's such an interesting time to be in these fandoms. :D

Sweet, I will check them out. Josuiji Shinri is my first vtuber ... no lie, a taco fell on my keyboard while I was writing a story and YouTube came up with his debut stream. I got hooked on his voice. I am now officially *curious* about this genre of entertainment.

YES! The way fandom is evolving ... it's insane. There's all this terrible stuff going on in the world at large, but here in the niche spaces, there's some really terrific developments and I love to see it. It gives me hope.

Zebragamer is very kid-friendly - he never swears and he plays kid-appropriate games (he DOES have a channel for non-kid stuff, but he keeps it very separate). One of the best things about him is that he narrates everything, including reading all the text on-screen, which when watching with kids means they don't have to be literate, but means it also works very well for background noise while working, because you won't miss things/have to look to read things only given as text.

I. Definitely have become a fan, lmao.

And yeah that's it exactly. Fandom has become an ever-more welcoming space as the rest of the world burns. At least we have a cozy spot to hide in.

Kid-friendly is good. Shinri and the holoTempus boys are definitely not, alas. That's cool that there are genuinely kid-friendly vtubers out there.

It only illustrates how much we need stories and fandom spaces, I think. Otherwise we'd all go bugnuts.
