1. What are you currently reading?

I'm currently reading AWM: PUBG by Man Man He Qi Duo. I'd previously read Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine by this author and this is very different, but I'm enjoying it. Like, definitely not "new obsession" kinds of enjoying, but it's a solid book and it reads pretty quick. I've been quite busy but I've still managed to get through a third of it, while also reading...

2. What have you read recently?

Graphic Novels

  • Dead Endia: The Divine Order by Hamish Steele (modern with magic, trans male lead, endgame f/f and m/m/m): very solid ending to this trilogy, I enjoyed it a lot. I feel like this series got better throughout, as what seemed like zany randomness in early volume 1 slowly came together as a cohesive plot. Also, it ends with m/m/m with a trans guy and a monster as two of the three, and that's a really really good way to get my attention, lmao.
  • Seaside Stranger vol. 1 by Kanna Kii (modern, BL): I'd found this at a book swap earlier this year, and I figured I might as well grab it, but I can also see why it ended up at a swap, and I'll be sending it to the library booksale and not continuing the series myself. The pacing was just weird, and the dynamic between the main two was somehow strained AND manipulative AND awkward AND cute at the same time. Definitely not for me.
  • My Hero Academic vol. 19 by Kohei Horikoshi (modern superheroes): is what it is. not sure how I feel about the current plot line but whatever. I think I've finally hit that point that I've read so much manga in my life that I'm inherently bored by school festival plots lmao.
  • Young Hag and the Witches' Quest by Isabel Greenberg (historical fantasy, Arthuriana, background f/f): I finished this yesterday, and it was a bit of a slog for me. I didn't know it was Arthuriana when I borrowed it, and I've never enjoyed Arthuriana like, at all. Idk it just doesn't speak to me. This was a feminist retelling very sympathetic to Morgan le Fey, which I appreciate, but it had some men-hating lines that jarred me, and just. yeah. again, wasn't for me.

 3. What will you be reading next?

My next-up novel is still Delta of Venus by Anais Nin; I ended up procrastinating starting it and starting AWM:PUBG instead. But I'm planning to start it maybe today? It's a short story collection and I'm most likely to get through it if I read the stories one by one, interspersed with reading other stuff. My next-up graphic novel is Spring Rain: A Graphic Memoir of Love, Madness, and Revolutions by Andy Warner. I don't remember what's on the pile after that, oops.
