Friday Five: Concussions
Sep. 21st, 2024 08:58 am1) Have you ever had a concussion?
Not that I know of, though I've clocked myself on the head damn hard a time or two so I've probably had a small one.
2) Have you ever recognized the signs of a concussion in someone else?
Yes, definitely, in more than one person. Memorably, a friend's ex-husband, he was a goddamn mess. Also, my father-in-law, who I've arm-chair diagnosed with CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) because he's a football player and wrestler and honestly there's no other good explanation for the way he's acted in the years I've known him.
3) Are you a fan of any dangerous sports?
Ish? But I've moved away from things like football, in part because of the health risks. No one should have to do that to themselves just to entertain others.
4) How is your health this year?
Meh. Pretty neutral.
5) What's the closest you've come to falling recently?
About a month ago, my dad - who outweighs me, though not by a lot - fainted into my arms, and I was actually surprised he didn't drag me down with him. Instead he kinda...bounced off me. and into the grass. so he didn't get hurt either, fortunately.
