THE END! But not really. We’ve got another core lexicon post of terms that start with characters (…they all start with a bracket at the moment…), and then another ginormous list of fandom abbreviations that we’re always expanding, and THEN we’ll be done.

Lexicon Entries Beginning with X:
x Reader: See [Character] x Reader
Xianxia: Chinese fantasy genre featuring chivalry and Chinese mythology. Read more about xianxia.
xReader: See [Character] x Reader
Lexicon Entries Beginning with Y:
Y/A: Abbreviation for “your age.” A term used in reader-insert stories to indicate the reader’s age.
Y/N: Abbreviation for “your name.” A term used in reader-insert stories to indicate the reader’s name. In other contexts, this may mean “yes/no,” which can lead to confusion for people not familiar with reader inserts.
Yaoi: A Japanese manga genre. While it can be used for any BL work from Japan, it’s most often used specifically for works that focus on sexual relationships between male characters. See also: shounen-ai. Read more about yaoi.
Yeet: 1. To toss an object forcefully and rapidly away from its point of origin. 2. To move one’s body forcefully and rapidly away from one’s current acitvity and toward an exit point. 3. (Less commonly now) An exclamation of excitement. Read more about the term yeet.
YKINMKATO: Abbreviation for “your kink is not my kink and that’s okay.” A phrase indicating the user’s support of open mindedness and acceptance; to put it in other words: just because we don’t like something, doesn’t mean that it is bad. See also: kink tomato. Read more about YKINMKATO.
YMMV: Abbreviation for “your mileage may vary.” A term that acknowledges that while a described experience was true for the person describing it, it may be different for others.

YT: Abbreviation for YouTube. A video-based social media platform. Visit YouTube.

Zine: A shortened form of “magazine.” 1. A compilation of art and writing typically printed at home, stapled together, and handed out for free or for a very low price. 2. A fan-made anthology of works around a given theme. Often crowdfunded ahead of time to ensure professional print quality. Read more about zines.
